Why Choose us

Frame

The frame, entirely designed and manufactured by us, has an original design that differs from the classic e-bikes on the market, recalling the shape of a motorcycle. The barycenter has been kept as low as possible, to ensure its unique handling.

A distinctive feature in all our models is the central position of the self-supporting engine, to which front axle and rear swingarm are connected.
This considerably reduces the weight of the vehicle, whilst providing excellent rigidity, besides optimizing weight distribution, and ensuring stability and easy handling to tackle and overcome any obstacle, both uphill and downhill.

New is its constructing feature: it is designed and developed as if it were a self-supporting frame, a technique used in the automotive industry. The material used is aluminum with parts stamped using cold deformation technology and CNC machined parts.

Another innovation is the rear swingarm: as for motorcycle use, the suspension is progressive. This allows a soft shock absorption at low speed and for minor obstacles, getting stronger as speed increases.

Dahu R1 is equipped with an Öhlins 38 double crown fork and 200 mm front and rear travel allowing to tackle any obstacle. Braking is provided by 203 mm disk brakes on both wheels, 29” front wheel and 27.5” rear wheel.

Engine

Dahu is equipped with a SEM brushless engine, whose peak absorption is 4.000W.
The self-supporting mid-motor has been improved in its construction and formal layout, with carters machined from billet, to reduce weight and increase rigidity.  From the outset, this provides the stable feeling of a motorcycle but with a reduced weight and the handling of a bicycle.
In addition, new helical gears specifically designed and branded by SEM have been engineered and implemented to reduce noise.

Our MotoBike is equipped with a new control unit, entirely developed by SEM, turning this vehicle into the junction between a bicycle and a motorcycle.
The impulses transmitted by the torque sensor, the throttle and the speed sensor are transformed by the ECU to respond precisely to each mechanical gear change, and the power delivered always comes out well to ride.

Thanks to its nine settings (PAS), the latest SEM model offers top comfort and performance in just a few clicks.

The “0 - OFF” PAS makes the Motobike a bicycle. When the first PAS Is entered, DAHU turns into an e-bike, through a pedal assist system over the next 5 settings. Starting from PAS 4, you have the possibility of using both the throttle grip and the pedal assist system together. With the last three PAS, pedal assist is overridden and DAHU turns into a proper motorcycle.

Display

One of the outstanding features of DAHU is its new display. To complement the development of the new control unit, a revised graphical user interface has been introduced. The colour LCD screen, measuring 72.5 x 54.75 mm, contains all information necessary for riding our Motobike.

The display shows the percentage of battery charge left, current speed, trip distance, total distance and the type of PAS used. The new control unit offers the possibility of choosing among 9 different PAS, besides the function “0 – OFF”.

On the screen, the PAS in use is highlighted by both a numbered text and a light bar with a color scale. This allows immediate perception of the type of PAS entered. The curve graph around the speedometer indicates instant power output.

The new display is fitted as standard, integrated with a SEM-branded shield protecting it and creating harmony with the front light and the horn.

Battery

This element has also been designed and produced exclusively for SEM, its shape perfectly fitting the frame and helping keep the barycenter low.

We have carried out several tests to find the best compromise between weight and efficiency: our Motobike is equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery, whose approximate weight is around 6 kg and the capacity 1300 Wh.

In terms of range, 70 kilometers are guaranteed with only the throttle on a flat surface and at a steady speed (tests performed on a test bench and on a racetrack). With the pedal-assist function and a smooth ride, the maximum distance that you can cover may increase significantly. In any case, if you run out of power, you always have the option of pedaling back home!

Double traction

Like for all our models, also Dahu features a dual chain system that makes the motor independent from the traditional drivetrain. On the right is a classic 11-speed transmission, while on the left is a transmission dedicated to the engine. A trait to highlight, the pivot of the swingarm is on the same axis as the sprocket, allowing the chain to be mounted without the use of any tensioner.

On our models, the separate management of the tractions has always allowed the use of the throttle and made it possible to ride forward even without pedaling, thus allowing to cope with any riding situation, from the most technical climbs, among the narrowest passes over to the toughest obstacles.

Standard equipment of street legal version

For our homologated model, the equipment required by law will be:
left rearview mirror, kickstand with lever, tubular structure for license plate holder with reflectors, rear fender, electronic horn, front LED low beam headlight, rear LED position light with stop light and license plate light.

All lights turn on when starting the Motobike, making road use safe and compliant.
